Meet Our Staff

Anthony’s family moved to Wasilla in 1981. After serving in the Air Force he became a radiation therapist and worked in the Seattle area. Anthony returned to the valley to help open Mat Su Valley Cancer Center. As an avid outdoorsman he enjoys fishing, hunting, 4 wheeling and snowmachining. “The best part of my job is taking care of the people in my home town.”

A certified radiation therapist since 2017, Christina graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a bachelor of science degree in Radiation Therapy. She also holds a second bachelor degree in German Studies. Having worked her entire radiation therapy career in Alaska, she is proud to call Alaska, and now the Matsu Valley, her home. The past four years have passed too quickly, always being busy doing something active in the state. She enjoys gardening, swimming and hiking the many miles of trail Alaska has to offer. She also enjoys crocheting with her cat on her lap and playing with her dog Hughie at the dog park.

Jess grew up on a registered Angus beef farm in eastern South Dakota. When the opportunity to move to Alaskan in 2007 presented itself, Jess was all on board. Shortly after arriving in Alaska, Jess met her husband Aaron. They have embraced the Alaskan lifestyle of adventuring in the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, xc skiing, hiking as well as traveling to warm destinations in the winter! She and Aaron also have an extremely adorable and spoiled micro-mini pig named Spank!

Prior to joining the team Advanced Oncology Associates in 2018, Jess worked for the American Cancer Society and led them in many successful fundraising campaigns throughout the state. Jess’ role with the team at Advanced Oncology Associates encompasses many parts but focuses on marketing, community engagement, and business development. Jess covers the clinics – Alaska Cyberknife, Anchorage Radiation Oncology Center, Mat-Su Valley Cancer Center, and Peninsula Radiation Oncology Center. Jess is an active member of the Soldotna Rotary Club and the international non-profit, ShelterBox USA.

Mark was born and raised in Pittsburgh and received his undergraduate degree in Nuclear Medicine at Robert Morris University. He then went to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY for his dosimetry certification.

Mark practiced dosimetry as a traveling locum for 3 years, then spent the last 5 years here in Alaska. Mark enjoyed his colleagues and Alaska so much he decided to stay. Mark also sits on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists.

Outside of work Mark enjoys traveling and visiting his family on the East Coast. Mark is always up for traveling to new places and experiencing their culture.

Dr. Hadley grew up in the Mountain West and received his Doctor of Medical Physics degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He completed his medical physics residency at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, and worked on staff at Mayo Clinic as a physicist and physics instructor to medical radiation oncology residents. Dr. Hadley is board certified by the American Board of Radiology.

Having visited Alaska off-and-on since 2014, Dr. Hadley landed permanently here in 2019. He enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, snow-shoeing, and road-tripping through Alaska with his wife and five children.

Geri was born and raised in Northern Michigan. She packed up her family and house and flew to Barrow, AK in 1993 where she started her career in the health-care industry. Geri has lived in Anchorage and has called the Valley home for over 10 years. She has worked in OB-GYN, dermatology, and now radiation oncology. Geri has two grown children. She is a sports fanatic with a love for hockey and baseball and played the Hockey Mom role very easily. In her time outside of work Geri enjoy spending time outdoors, berry picking, and enjoys eating the great dishes her husband cooks up!

Rachel was born on a homestead in the mountains of northern California, but has lived a nomadic lifestyle, living in 15 cities in 4 countries. She completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Linfield College in Portland, Oregon, and her master’s degree at Graceland University in Missouri, becoming a family nurse practitioner in 2016.

She was drawn to palliative care because of the emphasis on quality of life and relief of suffering while undergoing treatment. While providing palliative care at Salem Health in Oregon an opportunity to move to Anchorage presented itself in 2020, where Rachel instantly felt at home among Alaska’s natural beauty and abundant wildlife. When not providing exceptional patient care, she enjoys baking, biking, reading, hiking, and exploring Alaska with her St. Bernard and Great Dane dogs. She will be covering all the clinics – Alaska Cyberknife Center, Anchorage Radiation Oncology Center, Mat-Su Valley Cancer Center, Peninsula Radiation Oncology Center, and Southeast Radiation Oncology Center.

Palliative Care – Supporting You Through Treatment
Palliative care is specialized, supportive medical care that is focused on improving quality of life for patients with cancer, many who are also going through active treatment. It can be provided at any stage of illness and in collaboration with other forms of cancer treatment. Our provider will focus on relief of suffering from pain and other symptoms, both physical and psychosocial. Research shows that early integration of palliative care can improve quality of life, decrease depression and anxiety, increase patient and family satisfaction with care, and even extend survival. Kacy grew up in Kansas, completing her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Fort Hays State University. Kacy has moved around the country, multiple times, with her husband for his Army career. When he retired in 2021, they fulfilled his life-long dream and moved to Alaska to settle down. Kacy been a nurse for 7 years, primarily working bedside. She enjoys spending time outside, with her family, exploring The Last Frontier.

Danielle K, MS, CNS, LN, CNGS is a Board-Certified Nutrition Specialist from BCNS and a State of Alaska Licensed Nutritionist. She has worked in OBGYN, urology, oncology, and family medicine fields over the last 8 years. She is also a certified nutritional genomics specialists. She enjoys working with a variety of ailments, helping find a balance between the best dietary measures and a patient’s life.

Danielle graduated from University of Bridgeport Connecticut with a Master of Science in Human Nutrition. Her undergraduate degree is from University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and minor in Athletic Training. Danielle continues her education by attending conferences yearly in a wide variety of nutrition topics.

When she is not helping patients, she is outside enjoying the many Alaskan outdoor activities. Her favorite activities are hiking, gardening, and working agility with her dog.

Shirlie holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a minor in Business from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and a master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health and Trauma from the University of Denver. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, Shirlie joins the Aurora Integrated Oncology Foundation as an Oncology Social Worker, dedicated to supporting all Alaskans in accessing treatment, care, and services.

Their experience as a Social Worker at Providence Alaska Medical Center has provided Shirlie with valuable insight into the challenges many Alaskans face in accessing and navigating healthcare. Shirlie will be covering all of the clinics: Anchorage Radiation Oncology Center, Mat-Su Valley Cancer Center, Peninsula Radiation Oncology Center, and Southeast Radiation Oncology Center.

A lifelong Alaskan, Shirlie grew up in Kodiak, lived in Fairbanks while attending college, and now resides in Anchorage. Shirlie is a Lifetime Member of the Girl Scouts and has been a Lions Club member for over 12 years. These organizations have strongly shaped their commitment to service and giving back to their community, guiding their path into Social Work. In their free time, Shirlie enjoys spending time with their spouse, child, and pets.
